Creating Stories
Learn how to create and schedule Stories for Instagram and Facebook.
What are Stories?
Stories are temporary, full-screen vertical content that disappear after 24 hours. They're perfect for:
- Behind-the-scenes content
- Time-sensitive announcements
- Quick updates and polls
- Engaging with your audience in real-time
Supported Platforms
Stories can be published to:
- Instagram Stories
- Facebook Stories
Creating a Story
1. Select Story Type
When creating new content, select Story as your post type. This will automatically filter to only show platforms that support Stories (Instagram and Facebook).
2. Add Your Media
Stories work best with vertical content:
Recommended Specifications:
- Aspect Ratio: 9:16 (vertical)
- Resolution: 1080 x 1920 pixels
- Image formats: JPG, PNG
- Video formats: MP4, MOV
- Video length: Up to 60 seconds per story
You can upload:
- A single image
- A single video
- Multiple images/videos (each becomes a separate story slide)
3. Add Text and Elements
While OmniSocials focuses on scheduling and publishing, you can add basic text overlays. For more advanced editing with stickers, polls, and effects, consider editing in the native apps before uploading.
4. Select Platforms
Toggle Instagram and/or Facebook to choose where to publish your Story.
5. Schedule or Publish
- Publish Now: Immediately post your Story
- Schedule: Set a specific date and time for your Story to go live
Story Best Practices
- Keep it vertical: Always use 9:16 aspect ratio for the best experience
- Front-load important content: Viewers may swipe away quickly
- Use text sparingly: Keep text readable and concise
- Consider sound: Many viewers watch without sound, so add captions if needed
- Post consistently: Regular Stories keep you visible to your audience
Scheduling Stories
You can schedule Stories just like regular posts:
- Create your Story content
- Click Schedule
- Select date and time
- Your Story will publish automatically
Note: Scheduled Stories appear in your content calendar with a special Story indicator.
Limitations
- Stories disappear after 24 hours (this is a platform limitation)
- Some interactive features (polls, questions, quizzes) are only available when posting directly through the native apps
- Story Highlights must be managed in the native apps
