Google Business
OmniSocials publishes posts to your Google Business Profile, the business listing people see on Google. You can publish standard updates, events and offers, each with an optional button. In OmniSocials the channel is called Google Business.
What you can publish
| Post type | Details |
|---|---|
| Standard | A text update with an optional image |
| Event | An update with an event title and a start date |
| Offer | An update with a coupon code or a link to redeem the offer |
Every post can have up to one image and a call-to-action button. Video isn't supported.
Requirements
- A Google account with manager access to a verified business location in Google Business Profile.
- The Manage Social Channels permission in your OmniSocials workspace.
Each workspace connects one location. To post to several locations, use a workspace for each.
Connect Google Business
- Click the workspace name at the top of the sidebar, then click the + button (Add channel).
- Find the Google Business card and click Connect.
- Choose your Google account and allow OmniSocials access.
- If the account manages more than one location, choose the location in Select Google Business location and click Connect.
With only one location, OmniSocials connects it right away. To switch to another location later, reconnect Google Business and choose it.
Google Business options in the editor
Click the Google Business icon in the channel bar to see the post the way it appears on your profile.
The Google Business tab of the options panel at the bottom of the editor has these settings:
- Post type: Standard, Event or Offer.
- For an event: the Event title (required), the Start (required) and an optional End.
- For an offer: a Coupon code, a Redeem URL or both, and optional Terms & conditions. The redeem URL must start with https://.
- Call-to-action button: No button, Learn more, Book, Order online, Shop, Sign up or Call now. Every button except Call now needs a URL. Call now uses the phone number on your business profile.
Caption rules
Google rejects posts with a phone number or a link in the caption, so OmniSocials checks for them before you schedule:
- Remove phone numbers from the caption. Add the Call now button instead.
- Remove links from the caption. Add a Learn more, Shop or Book button with the link instead.
Limits
| Limit | |
|---|---|
| Caption | 1,500 characters, required |
| Event title | 58 characters |
| Coupon code | 58 characters |
| Terms & conditions | 4,000 characters |
| Images | One image per post, JPEG or PNG, up to 5 MB |
| Video | Not supported |
Google doesn't provide statistics for single posts. Your analytics show account-level numbers instead, such as impressions, calls, direction requests and website clicks.
Troubleshooting
Google Business was not connected. The Google account you chose doesn't manage a verified business location. Click Open Google Business Profile to create or claim your listing and finish the verification, then connect again. Or connect with a Google account that has manager access to the listing.
Your business isn't in the list. Make sure the Google account you connected has manager access to the listing in Google Business Profile.
The post has an error about a phone number or link. Remove it from the caption and use a button instead, see Caption rules above.
A video is rejected. Google Business posts don't support video. Use a JPEG or PNG image.
